Lagos State Government Champions Intellectual Property Rights at Afropolis Event

The Special Adviser for the Office of Public Private Partnerships, Mrs. Bukola Odoe, participated in a panel session at the ongoing Afropolis event held at the JK Randle Event Centre in Onikan.
The panel discussion centered on "Remix Culture, Digital Technology, and IP Rights” where Mrs. Odoe highlighted the Lagos State government's intervention in delivering key infrastructure for the entertainment sector, which has been the state's greatest export for years.
She also emphasized the importance of legal protection for intellectual property rights for local talents, particularly in the digital age where content transmission across continents often leads to broken ownership chains.
To address this challenge, Mrs. Odoe stressed the need for deeper conversations on protecting intellectual property rights and the need to collaborate between experts and the government to design effective policy frameworks to help protect these rights.
